Turning a Crowded Aisle into a Smart Point of Decision
Garnier wanted to grab shoppers’ attention and educate them about a range of serums, without overwhelming them with information. ImmersionX led the experience design, interaction design, and software development to turn a routine shelf-browsing moment into a smart, guided decision point.
The solution combines object recognition technology with holographic displays. As soon as a shopper picks up a Garnier serum, the system identifies the product and triggers a holographic projection showcasing its details, benefits, and usage guidance in real time.
Rather than leaving shoppers to decode fine print on packaging, the shelf now speaks up at exactly the moment it matters, surfacing the information a shopper needs just as they're weighing a choice. This turns a passive display into an active participant in the buying journey, one that informs and nudges the decision right where it's being made.
Underpinning the experience is a recognition layer tuned to detect and distinguish individual products with precision, so the correct holographic content fires reliably every time, with no manual input needed from the shopper.
Content, including product benefits, ingredient highlights, and usage guidance, is managed through an integrated backend, making it simple to update or expand messaging across Garnier's serum range without reworking the shelf hardware itself.
