Reimagining How Beauty Products Get Noticed
Ulta Beauty wanted an engagement experience that redefined how beauty products are showcased and marketed, one that could attract attention, strengthen brand visibility, and drive customer interaction across multiple locations. ImmersionX led the experience design, interaction design, and software development behind the solution.
The response was a set of holographic BeamBoxx installations, deployed in multiple sizes across in-store and broader locations around Los Angeles, with content developed to showcase Ulta Beauty’s product portfolio as 3D holographic visuals, giving the brand a consistent yet flexible format for presenting its range across different formats and footprints.
Beyond the visual display, each BeamBoxx unit supports touch-based interaction, letting customers engage directly with the product visuals shown rather than simply viewing them. This hands-on element gives customers a reason to stop and spend more time with a product than a static display would allow, which in turn supports stronger brand recall; customers are more likely to remember a product they interacted with than one they only glanced at.
Because the BeamBoxx units are available in multiple sizes and are designed to be easily relocated and set up, Ulta Beauty was able to extend a consistent product experience beyond a single store, deploying installations across various locations around Los Angeles without redesigning the experience for each site. This gave the brand a repeatable, scalable format for engaging customers at multiple touchpoints rather than a one-off installation.
