Creating moments of discovery, connection, and reflection.
Wahat Al Karama is a national memorial dedicated to the UAE’s fallen heroes, where memory, sacrifice, national identity, and humanitarian values converge.
ImmersionX was engaged to reimagine and design the visitor experience within the museum’s existing architecture, infrastructure, exhibits, and spatial framework. The goal was not to replace what existed, but to build upon it, envisioning a more connected, immersive, and emotionally engaging journey while preserving the character and significance of the memorial.
Transforming an existing museum presented a unique design challenge. The proposed experience needed to work within established spaces, circulation patterns, architectural elements, exhibits, and infrastructure, while maintaining the integrity of a highly sensitive memorial environment.
ImmersionX approached the project as an experience transformation rather than a conventional museum redesign, developing a respectful, contemplative, and narrative-led visitor journey through concepts for interactive technologies, digital storytelling, projection, lighting, sound, touch interfaces, spatial interventions, and enhanced content. The design encouraged visitors to move beyond simply viewing exhibits and instead connect and reflect.
ImmersionX’s work demonstrates how an existing museum can be reimagined through experience design without compromising its original character.
Through museum experience design, immersive technology concepts, interactive storytelling, spatial design, and digital media, we developed a new vision for how visitors could experience the memorial, creating additional layers of meaning while remaining faithful to its original spirit.
Most importantly, the proposed experience was designed to encourage visitors to pause and reflect.
